Frequently Asked Questions

Guidance on using the directory and standard industry practices.

How do you verify supplier certifications?

We require suppliers to upload current copies of their AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP certificates during the onboarding process. We periodically check these against accreditation body databases (like OASIS for AS9100) to ensure they remain active and have not been suspended.

How does the RFQ process work?

When you submit an RFQ through Aerocabler, our system anonymizes your contact details and matches your technical requirements (certifications, volume, materials) against our supplier database. Matching suppliers are notified. When a supplier expresses intent to bid and meets your criteria, we facilitate the direct introduction.

Is it safe to upload drawings/BOMs?

Files uploaded via our standard form are encrypted at rest and in transit. However, for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or ITAR-restricted technical data, do not use the standard upload tool. Submit the form without attachments and check the box requesting a secure transfer link. We will provide a compliant, end-to-end encrypted portal for the data transfer.

What is the difference between Mil-Spec and Commercial wire?

Mil-Spec wire (like MIL-W-22759) is manufactured to strict military standards governing conductor material, stranding, insulation type, and testing requirements. It offers guaranteed performance characteristics regarding temperature rating, fluid resistance, and flammability. Commercial wire often lacks this rigorous traceability and standardized testing, making it unsuitable for aerospace applications where failure is not an option.

Why does AS9100 matter for cable assemblies?

AS9100 builds upon ISO 9001 but adds specific requirements for the aerospace industry, including stringent configuration management, foreign object debris (FOD) prevention, counterfeit parts prevention, and strict lot traceability. For critical interconnects, this ensures that every component in the assembly can be traced back to its raw material source.
